Maryland Housing Search is a FREE resource for finding and listing rental housing anywhere in Maryland.  The site provides helpful tools to prospective renters, including an affordability calculator, rental checklist, and renter rights and responsibility information. Access to the site is available 24/7. A bilingual helpline is available M-F, 8:00 AM-9:00 PM at 1-877-428-8844.  

Applying for Shelter Services in Montgomery County

DHHS provides coordination of services to homeless individuals and families. Services include: outreach, emergency shelter, transitional housing, and permanent supportive housing.

Homeless families can walk-in to any of the following regional offices:

Food Supplement Program/SNAP/Food Stamps

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), called the Food Supplement Program (FSP) in Maryland, formerly known as Food Stamps, helps low-income households buy the food they need for good health. Everyone has the right to apply for FSP.

SNAP benefits supplements the grocery budget for low income families and individuals. Many people who receive Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA) and Temporary Disability Assistance Program (TDAP) are also eligible to receive Food Stamps.
