EFNEP Youth Nutrition Program
The Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) of the United States Department of Agriculture, the University of Maryland’s Department of Nutrition and Food Science and the University of Maryland Extension focuses on diet quality, nutrition, food savings, and food safety. EFNEP helps limited-income families and youth acquire knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behavior changes necessary to promote health and wellness and reduce chronic disease risk. Ongoing classes at various community centers and schools. This program integrates physical activity into nutrition lessons for youth. Topics include: Be active, snack in MyPyramid way, reading the food label and fruits and vegetables.
