A professional social worker is available Monday through Friday for counseling and referrals. Provision of social services is the core of what Bethesda Cares does. We do not have a program that clients must fit. Rather we fit our services around the needs of our clients. The social worker hears our client’s story and together they put together a plan of action. There is no typical day at the office. The social worker responds to the person and problems as they walk in the door. The causes of homelessness are many and so must the responses. We work with over 300 different agencies to put together a plan of action. A client may need dental referral, housing and glasses or addiction treatment, clothing and a mailing address. Whatever the needs are, the social worker finds the solutions. She also counsels, evaluates, writes psycho/social evaluations, housing applications, resumes just to name a few skills employed.
