Neighbors in Need Montgomery
The Neighbors in Need Montgomery Fund is a grantmaking fund supporting effective nonprofit organizations in the County that are part of a critical "safety net" of services. It works in close partnership with the County’s Department of Health and Human Services and with our regional Neighbors in Need Fund of The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region. All grantee nonprofit organizations are pre-vetted for program and management excellence by The Community Foundation for montgomery County’s expert staff and a Steering Committee of knowledgeable and generous private donors. Like the rest of the country, the Washington metropolitan region has been hit hard by our nation's economic crisis. In Montgomery County, thousands of people are struggling to get the basics. Unfortunately, our County’s nonprofit service providers are hurting too. Food banks, shelters, and other service providers are flooded with demands for services, while the cost of doing business rises steadily. In this very difficult time, The Community Foundation is leading the response.
