Tree of Hope Association

Comments:The Tree of Hope Association formerly known as Avery Road Alumni Association is an organization that is focused on strengthening the roots of recovery. Our membership is open to everyone that participates in and supports the recovery community. Connecting people to services, building their self esteem and assisting them in getting proper job skills and tools are our primary focus. Tree of Hope is a non-profit organization created to serve the recovery community. We are interested in helping people in need get a fresh start by offering peer services, workforce development, social integration and providing clothing for those in need.Clothes ClosetWe operate a clothes closet to provide clothing for clients that come in to treatment with nothing. The clothes closet also serves to provide participants with clothing for interviews. This closet is temporarily closed due to construction.Social IntegrationCoffee Houses and dances are given regularly to raise money, give those new in recovery a service commitment and provide a clean environment for recoverees to have fun. We also provide specialized programing for Avery House, such as workshops on professional makeup application and providing newer clients with haircuts to prepare for job interviews. Peer ServicesPeer services provides those new in recovery with guidance from those who have come before them. Clients are given a listening ear of someone in recovery to help them navigate their next steps to ensure success. Peers serve as a resources for the following areas:Recovery Coach TrainingAssist client in finding the recovery pathHelp client to find resources available Problem solvingActive ListeningWorkforce DevelopmentWe have developed programming for clients to prepare for the workforce. One of the biggest obstacles for those in the shelter system, new in recovery and people who have been out of the workforce for extended periods of time is the inability to find employment due to insufficient skills. The lack of basic computer skill can be the difference in the ability of the client to provide for their families. The more skills the client possesses the less likely they are to return to the circumstance that created the conflict in the client’s life. Our programming cover the following workforce development topics:Basic Microsoft Office TrainingEntrepreneurship trainingRecovery and Ethics in the WorkplaceResume buildingJob SearchingMock Interviewing and Problem SolvingPublic Speaking
